answersheet™ (answersheet or answersheet.in or app.answersheet.in) is an independent, bootstrapped educational technology platform designed strictly as an interactive assessment engine to assist students with self-study, academic revision, and competitive examination preparation.

We firmly believe in respecting intellectual property rights while promoting open academic access for students. This page provides full transparency regarding the source materials used across our testing platform.

1. Our Own Intellectual Property

Separate from the public examination material described below, answersheet independently owns and retains all right, title, and interest in the following, which are proprietary to answersheet and protected under the Copyright Act, 1957, the Trade Marks Act, 1999, and other applicable Indian and international intellectual property law:

• Software and source code, including the backend, frontend, and all supporting scripts and infrastructure configuration
• Algorithms and systems we have designed and built, including our mastery-scoring system, question-level root-cause diagnosis logic (silly mistake / conceptual confusion / prerequisite-gap classification), adaptive question-selection and recommendation logic, and the underlying decision and diagnosis engines
• System design and architecture, including our database schema, data models, and the structural organization of content, concepts, and question metadata
• User interface and user experience design, including layouts, visual design, interaction patterns, and derivative graphics or re-rendered diagrams produced by us (see Section 4)
• Original written content, including platform copy, help content, and documentation authored by us
• The answersheet™ name, brand, logo, and any associated visual identity, as our trademark and trade dress

None of the above is public material, and none of it is covered by the fair-dealing basis described in Section 3. Our ownership of this technology and content exists independently of, and is not diminished by, the fact that some of the underlying academic questions displayed through our platform are public examination material belonging to other rights-holders (Section 2).

No licence is granted to copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, create derivative works from, reverse-engineer, decompile, or scrape any of the above without our prior written permission. Use of the platform under these terms grants users only a limited, personal, non-commercial licence to access this technology through the Services — it does not transfer ownership of, or any commercial rights in, this intellectual property. Unauthorized use may be pursued as a violation of applicable copyright, trademark, and other law.

2. Source Attribution & Ownership of Examination Materials

The past-year examination questions, answer keys, structural options, and primary academic schematics hosted on our platform are public educational materials originally created and published by their respective official examination-conducting authorities:

• JEE Main / NEET Content: Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) materials are the exclusive intellectual property of the National Testing Agency (NTA), India.
• JEE Advanced Content: JEE Advanced materials are the exclusive intellectual property of the organizing Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

answersheet explicitly states that we do not claim proprietary copyright or ownership over the raw text of these public questions or the core scientific/mathematical data contained within their official paper templates. All original rights remain reserved by the respective statutory boards.

3. Legal Compliance under the Indian Copyright Act (Fair Dealing)

The presentation of past-year question papers (PYQs) within our interactive practice interface is undertaken in reliance on Section 52(1)(a) of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, which permits the “fair dealing” of copyrighted works for purposes including:

• Private study
• Criticism, review, or educational research

answersheet does not sell or license the questions themselves. Instead, our service fee (where applicable) covers the proprietary software engineering infrastructure, performance analytics dashboard, testing timers, data organization, and interactive user interface built around these public materials to enhance student learning outcomes.

4. Purpose of App Watermarks & Derivative Graphics

Users will observe the (“answersheet.in or answersheet logo(s) or branding”) watermark or logo stamped across certain question containers, user interface layouts, or clean vector diagrams.

• Identification, Not Ownership: These watermarks are used strictly as a product identification asset for organic marketing and interface recognition (e.g., when students share screenshots for peer-to-peer doubt solving on digital communities).
• No False Claims: The application of our watermark does not constitute a claim of copyright ownership over the underlying academic question or official diagram concept.
• Re-rendered Schematics: Where applicable, historical exam diagrams have been re-rendered or cleaned using digital tools to provide high-resolution readability for students. These derivative presentation files are treated as answersheet’s own interface assets, while the underlying engineering/scientific concept remains attributed to the original board.

5. Non-Affiliation and Endorsement Disclaimer

answersheet is a completely independent, self-funded platform. It has no official affiliation with, authorization from, sponsorship by, or licensing agreement with the National Testing Agency (NTA), any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), the Ministry of Education, or any government examination board in India. The use of names, acronyms (such as JEE or NEET), or official exam references is done strictly for descriptive, identification, and contextual educational purposes.

6. Intellectual Property Complaints & Takedown Requests

answersheet operates in good faith and takes intellectual property rights seriously. If you are an authorized representative of a copyright-holding entity and believe that specific content on our platform exceeds the scope of fair dealing under Section 52(1)(a) of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, or otherwise infringes your rights, you may raise the concern by writing to us with:

• Identification of the specific content in question (URL, page, or question reference)
• Proof of your authority to act on behalf of the copyright owner
• A description of the right you believe has been infringed

We aim to acknowledge good-faith IP queries within a reasonable time and will review each one on its merits. Depending on our review, we may request additional information, modify the content in question, remove it, or decline the request — entirely at our discretion. Submitting a request under this section does not constitute an admission by answersheet that any infringement has occurred, and we reserve all rights and defences available to us under applicable law, including fair dealing. We reserve the right to reject requests that are incomplete, unsubstantiated, or made without proper authority. This process exists for genuine IP concerns; it is not a mechanism for suppressing fair-dealing educational content, and requests that appear to misuse it may be treated accordingly.
